File Transfer Protocol and Secure File Transfer Protocol (FTP/SFTP) provide a standard way to transfer files between computers, regardless of the operating system on each computer (Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, etc.). These programs are most commonly used to transfer files from your computer to a web server. SFTP is more secure than FTP because it ensures that the entire transfer session is encrypted, meaning no passwords are sent in the clear and are therefore much less vulnerable to interception.
Yes! our sFTP Client app supports all FTP and SFTP connections.
Yes! our sFTP Client app has full support for connecting to local networks, as this is a native packaged app and not a web-based app you can connect to any internal / external ftp/sftp networks.
You need to enter the hostname (something like "home.example.com" or "ftp.example.net") of the server you want to transfer files from or to, and the username (something like "smith97" or "billsbakery") and password for your account on that server. If this is an account you've purchased from a Internet service provider, that provider should be able to tell you what to enter.

Google will end support for Chrome apps on Windows, Mac, and Linux. What happens now?We have good news in relation to this!
Firstly support from Google will end in 2018 for our app, so this gives us plenty of time.
We are currently building a more native app for sFTP Client whereby this would allow our app to become natively available to Windows, Mac and Linux. This will also provide our users with the following new and improved features:
- DSA support for SFTP / SSH connections
- Faster transfers (by using a more native code to handle encryptions)
- Google integration to sync accounts across devices
- Google Drive support
- Dropbox support
- Double side connections (FTP/SFTP, Local, Google Drive or Dropbox on either side to easily transfer files and folders from either location)
- TLS support for implicit / explicit connections
- Searching directories for files
Some features may not be available straight away, but these are the features that are planned for our new Native app, this will all hopefully be available early next year.
